Organise or take part in a public collection for TB Alert!

Public collections not only help to raise money to fund TB Alert’s projects in the UK and developing countries, they are also an excellent as awareness-raising exercises. They provide the possibility for you to meet and hear the views of the general public, medical people and past sufferers of tuberculosis or their family members. They also provide TB Alert with the opportunity to spread the word that TB is HERE in Great Britain TODAY!

Can you spare a couple of hours to cure someone of TB?

Every hour really is worth it – in fact on average collecting for two hours could raise enough money to cure one person of TB – and prevent them from spreading the disease to 15 more people. That’s got to be worth a couple of hours of your time! If you can spare a whole day we won’t turn you down – but we do realise that not everyone has the time to do that! Not all of our collections are outside in all weathers – in fact one collection each year will take place in the foyer of Harvey Nicholls in London. And you could treat yourself to some shopping after your collecting stint!

Are you within traveling distance of London or Brighton?

We have collecting venues throughout the year in both of these locations – if you live nearby and think you can help please let us know by calling our Volunteer Co-ordinator on 020 8360 1253 or email damknight@hotmail.com. Our main collection period is centred around World TB day on 24th March – please let us know if you can join our World TB Day collection team.

Are you good at organising?

Wherever you live in the country, could you organise a collection in your area at a church, shopping centre, supermarket, sporting event, pub or railway station? We can help you by advising on how to go about getting permission to collect and providing you with collecting tins, stickers and posters. On 24th March each year we are trying to get collections organised all over the country for World TB day.

Do you belong to a church which makes collections for charity?

If your church supports charities – why not put TB Alert forward as a beneficiary – particularly suitable for World TB day on 24th March.
