Online TB training for primary care clinicians
The online TB training provides GPs, Practice Nurses and Nurse Practitioners with the knowledge they need to make swift and appropriate referrals of suspected TB cases, for diagnosis within specialist services. The course also supports primary care professionals to work alongside TB services to care for patients through their treatment lasting a minimum of six months. The training is accredited through the RCGP credit-based system for CPD and the content complies with NICE guidelines on TB prevention and control. The two 30 minute training modules are hosted on the RCGP’s Online Learning Environment.

TB Specialist Nurse Resource Pack
The TB Specialist Nurse Resource Pack has been developed for TBSNs to use in GP practice meetings and lunch time talks. The resources were piloted by TB nurses in medium- and high-incidence areas and received a 100% good or excellent rating. The pack includes a comprehensive presentation on TB and detailed speakers notes; ‘leave behind’ materials to reinforce the information given to primary care professionals; and multi-lingual symptoms posters for practice waiting rooms.
The primary care awareness materials are part of TB Alert’s The Truth About TB awareness raising work and are funded by the Department of Health. The programme aims to raise public and professional awareness of TB in response to a rise in rates of TB over the last 25 years.
