Next Steps

We have now completed the initial situation analysis of the area and mapped out all the Public and private health providers. Next we shall conduct a questionnaire survey of the area to get baseline data on the status of awareness on TB within the community. This data will be useful in analyzing our impact once the project is running. 

Our staff are also undergoing further TB and HIV training provided by DSACS, this will enable our lab technician to diagnose HIV-TB and train our out-reach workers to deal with HIV-TB patients. This will allow us to implement HIV-TB initiatives as part of this project.

We are currently planning to open one microscopy center in the area by early March 2008 as well as a TB Alert India office in the area. Thanks to the area Counselor, Mr Vimla Tyaga, we are likely to be able to use a room in one of the community centers in Burari for the microscopy center free of charge. There is also the further option of opening a second Microscopy center depending on the need of the area.
