There is currently a national shortage of some anti-TB medicines, expected to last until at least the end of 2025. Please be reassured that plans are in place to protect your health and ensure all patients receive the treatment they need. This information is for anyone that is being treated for or newly diagnosed with TB disease (also known as active TB) or TB infection (also known as latent TB).
If you are currently on treatment: your treatment must continue without interruption. If your usual medication is unavailable, your TB Team will prescribe an appropriate alternative. Please limit your prescription to a maximum of one month’s supply to help conserve existing stock.
If you have been newly diagnosed with TB: Patients already receiving treatment for TB disease will be given priority. Your healthcare professional will discuss your treatment start date with you, according to local supply and your specific needs.
